The Athletic Board
The St. Paul’s Parish Athletic Program is open to all St. Paul’s students and parish families beginning in the 3rd grade. We believe that participation in team sports allows our student-athletes to experience individual growth while encouraging the growth of their teammates, peers, friends and competitors. Team sports, competitive contests and special outdoor activities are opportunities to keep the body fit and the mind clear.
St. Paul’s sports teams compete against teams from other parochial schools throughout San Francisco as part of the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) League. Currently, fall sports include soccer for boys and volleyball for girls; winter sports include boys’ basketball and girls’ soccer; and co-ed baseball and girls’ basketball in the spring.
Objectives
• To promote and encourage the development of Catholic-Christian values and character through interaction with peers;
• To develop the concept of community through the participation in team sports;
• To promote individual mental, social, physical and spiritual growth and development through participation in team sports;
• To understand that the concepts of team spirit and sportsmanship cannot be overvalued.
It is through these ideals that children and adults can participate meaningfully in our community.
